Ambient Prose is a new way of experiencing writing, a sanctuary of sound and syllable, where the listener can experience language in its most ethereal form. In this space, words are not just heard but felt, creating an ambient atmosphere that enriches the mind and soothes the soul. Ambient Prose echoes Brian Eno’s vision of music that is as ignorable as it is interesting, but with the nuanced beauty of the written word.

Ambient Prose is an audio imprint of Sweden’s Renate Publishing Co.

Renate was founded by writers and poets who had the ambition of creating a publishing company as a playground of their own, their own little patio of fun where they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, outside the constraints and preconceived notions of the established publishing houses.

Renate’s first publication was in the form of literary posters seen throughout the city of Stockholm in 2021, with limited-run prints quickly selling out. Renate’s next effort was novella-length print editions of Swedish-language Ambient Prose, released in Sweden in 2023. Ambient Prose is now pleased to be releasing its first in a series of audiobooks.
